FYI — what to know before you order
Aggregate Delivery FAQ
Quick answers to the most common questions about ordering bulk aggregate in Metro Phoenix. Skim the list, jump to what you need.
How is bulk aggregate priced?
Bulk aggregate is priced per ton, not per truckload. Your delivered total includes material (priced at the quarry’s per-ton rate), delivery (calculated by actual mile to your job site), Arizona TPT tax for your jurisdiction, and a small fuel surcharge. There are no flat haul fees or hidden markups — every line is itemized on your estimate. See the full pricing breakdown.
How accurate are your estimates?
Our estimates are accurate 98% of the time — built on real haul distances and current material pricing. The rare variance is a quarry price adjustment, not a guess on our end. What you see is almost always what you pay.
How fast will I get confirmation?
Your price shows up instantly. Dispatch confirmation typically comes within 30 minutes Mon–Fri, 6:30 AM–3:30 PM. Jobs that need extra sign-off get routed to management the moment the request comes in.
What's the difference between a yard and a ton?
A yard is a measure of volume (27 cubic feet). A ton is a measure of weight (2,000 pounds). Aggregate is sold by the ton because density varies by material and moisture content — one cubic yard of dry decomposed granite weighs about 1.4 tons, while one cubic yard of wet ABC base can weigh closer to 1.7 tons. To convert square footage and depth into tons, use our tonnage calculator.
What's a full load? Do I have to order that much?
Maximum single load is 17 tons — one run, maximum material, lowest cost per ton. We select the right equipment for your order, including small deliveries from 1 ton up. There is no minimum order. Not sure how many tons you need? The calculator can help.
I'm a homeowner, not a contractor — can I still order?
Yes. Homeowners order all the time — DG pathways, gravel driveways, backyard landscaping. No contractor account required. Just use the estimate form like anyone else. Dispatch will confirm your delivery window.
How big is your truck and can it reach my driveway?
Most deliveries arrive on a standard end-dump or belly-dump truck — roughly the size of a city dump truck. The truck needs about 80 to 100 feet of straight, firm ground to drop a load, plus 14 feet of overhead clearance for tree limbs, wires, and patio covers. If you’re uncertain about access, send dispatch a photo of your driveway and dump location before delivery day. See the prep checklist.
Will you spread the rock for me, or just dump it?
Our drivers dump the load in a single pile at the location you specify. Spreading, raking, or moving material to a different spot after delivery is not part of the haul service — that’s site work, and you’ll need a wheelbarrow, skid steer, or installation crew for it. If you need spreading, plan for it before the delivery arrives.
Can I split a load between two locations?
Standard deliveries go to one drop location. If you need material split between two spots, note it in the request — dispatch will review options and confirm. Split drops may carry an additional fee.
How long does the actual delivery take once the truck arrives?
Once the truck is on site and dispatch has confirmed the dump location, the actual unload takes about 5 to 10 minutes. The rest of the delivery window is travel time from the quarry, route congestion, and waiting for site clearance if anything is unclear. Have your dump spot ready and the driver in and out fast.
How accurate are your delivery windows?
Windows (Morning, Midday, Afternoon, Flexible) are honest estimates, not appointments. Most deliveries land within their window. The biggest variables are quarry loading queues, traffic on I-10 and Loop 101, and earlier stops running long. If you need a tighter window, dispatch will work with you when scheduling.
Can I cancel after I place an order?
You can cancel at no charge before dispatch confirms the run and captures payment. Once the truck is loaded and rolling, cancellation is no longer available and the full amount is captured. If circumstances change after that point, contact dispatch immediately — quick recalls before the truck dumps usually avoid the failed-delivery fee.
What happens if I order too much or too little?
Aggregate is a bulk commodity — delivered quantities can vary up to ±10% from what you ordered due to natural density variation and truck payload limits. If you under-ordered, place a follow-up delivery (most quarries can turn a second load same-week). If you significantly over-ordered, contact dispatch within 24 hours of delivery. Use the tonnage calculator to estimate accurately the first time.
Do you deliver on weekends?
Saturday delivery is available in the morning slot only and includes a $39 weekend surcharge to cover quarry coordination. Sunday delivery is not available — quarries are closed. Most contractors plan around the standard Monday-through-Friday window for predictability.
What happens if it rains?
Light rain doesn’t usually stop a delivery, but heavy rain or unsafe ground conditions on your site might. If we cancel due to weather, the failed-delivery fee does not apply and we’ll work with you to reschedule. If your site is at risk of becoming inaccessible, contact dispatch as early as possible so we can move the window.
Do I have to be on site for the delivery?
Someone reachable by phone needs to be the day-of contact, but they don’t have to be physically on site if access is open and the dump location is clearly marked. Dispatch will call before the truck arrives. If no one answers and the driver can’t confirm where to dump, the delivery may fail and the failed-delivery fee applies.
